11 11 276 # Replacing grooved ball bearing for
variator shaft in cover
Remove cover.
Remove shaft sealing ring.

Caution:
To avoid damaging the sealing face, use an old gas-
ket and support on blocks.
Working from outside and using mandrel,
BMW No. 11 7 571 D = 32 mm (1.260 in) or
24 mm socket , press grooved ball bearing into
gearcase cavity.

When installing:
e
Grease seats of shafts.

The open side of the grooved ball bearing must face
11 7 571
inward.

Operating fluids:
Shaft seats ........................Klüber paste 46 MR 401
Caution:
Note:
31 5 652
To avoid risk of breakage, support housing by
placing tubular spacer, BMW No. 31 5 652,
underneath bearing seat.
Lightly oil outside circumference of grooved ball
bearing and press into housing with mandrel,
D = 50 mm (1.969 in) or 36 mm socket, until
seated.
