9.3.2
Replacing the Diskette Drive
To replace the diskette drive:
1. Remove the defective diskette drive as instructed in the preceding section.
2. On the replacement drive, verify the proper setting of the drive select switch.
Make sure the switch position matches that of the defective drive. See
the switch location.
3. Connect the data cable to the replacement drive (see
Use the end of the cable that has no pull tab. The connector is keyed so it will fit
only one way.
4. Install the diskette drive (see
a. Slide the diskette drive and attached cable into the cavity in the disk drive
mounting bracket. Make sure the drive's printed circuit board is facing up.
b. Thread the data cable through the opening on top of the drive mounting
bracket.
c. Align the four screw holes in the mounting bracket with the holes in the
diskette drive, insert the screws, and fasten the diskette drive securely in the
bracket.
5. Replace the disk drive mounting bracket in the unit top.
