Expansion Board Check (if applicable)

CAUTION:
The expansion board is sensitive to electrostatic discharge, ensure that you are properly earthed
before attempting to remove the board. Handle the board carefully, holding it by the edges and do
not flex or stress. Keep it in static proof packing while out of the unit.
PROCEDURE:
The Expansion or daughter board delivers additional outputs and video outputs in some cases. This is
mounted to motherboard on hex pillars and attaches to two sets of pin headers.
1. In some cases the expansion board can be quite large and difficult to line up on the motherboard
headers. Carefully look under the board from a side on view to determine whether it is seated correctly
and pins have not been missed. Re-seat if not aligned properly,
2. The expansion board should be put through it's test described in the 'Testing' section of the service
manual. This will involve checking each of its connectors to confirm their functionality.
3. Should problems be exhibited during the test process then try exchanging it for another known working
board and put it back through the test procedure again. If the problem still exists then first change the
motherboard and then the hard disk(s).
EXPANSION BOARD FINAL DIAGNOSIS:
1.
The expansion board is fully operational (pending final testing) if the following is true:-
All the outputs are working correctly.
2.
It should be replaced only if the following is true :-
Problems occur during testing and has been isolated from the motherboard and software
on the hard disk(s).
The unit was turned on when the board was misaligned and it is failing testing.
There is physical damage to the board.
Modem Problems
CAUTION:
The modem is sensitive to electrostatic discharge, ensure that you are properly earthed before
attempting to remove the board. Handle the modem carefully, holding it by the edges and do not flex
or stress. Keep it in static proof packing while out of the unit.
PROCEDURE:
The modem is quite a simple component, it is a circuit board and RJ11 socket mounted to metal bracket.
There is a shielded cable with a RJ11 and a two pin connector joining the modem board and RJ11 socket.
The assembly is connected to the motherboard on a pin header, which can be incorrect fitted if not
checked properly.
1. Perform a visual inspection to determine whether the modem is correctly lined up on the motherboard
