The Memtest CD will test the operation and integrity of the motherboard and memory. It is a
bootable CD that is run on power up. You will need to insert the CD into the drive by either fully
starting the unit (if possible) or by inserting a straightened out paper clip or equivalent into the
manual eject hole below the right hand corner of the CD drawer whilst the power is on. Plug in
the USB keyboard in the rear of the unit and cold start the unit. As the splash screen appears
press 'F2' on the keyboard. This will instruct the unit to boot from the inserted CD.
Start the testing process when the software loads and allow it to run at least one complete test
cycle.
If any errors are found then first change the memory and re-run the test, however if it should
fail again then it is most likely a problem with the motherboard.
MOTHERBOARD FINAL DIAGNOSIS:
1.
The Motherboard is operational (pending final testing) if the following is true:-
The 'XiVA' logo is shown and the fan spins.
The correct voltages are delivered to the hard disk(s) and CDROM drive.
2.
It should be replaced only if the following is true :-
The connector providing power to the hard disk(s) and CDROM drive has either no
output, no output on one or more pins or there is serious deviations in voltages.
Memtest has failed and the memory stick has been swapped for a known working one.
Any physical damage or unusual attributes.
There are clearly motherboard problems during the testing of the unit.
