Replacing the Front Panel Display Board (FPDB)

CAUTION:
The Front Panel Display Board is sensitive to electrostatic discharge, ensure that you are properly
earthed before attempting to remove the board. Handle the front panel display board carefully,
holding it by the edges and do not flex or stress. Keep it in static proof packing while out of the unit.
The motherboard front panel display socket carries x volts on pin x, do not under any circumstances
attempt to connect a cable plugged in this socket into the hard disk drives or CDROM drive. This
will short circuit the attached device and/or motherboard rendering it inoperable.

PROCEDURE:
Disassembly

1. Remove the hard disk metal bracket. (See page *DA_REMOVE_HARDDISK_BRACKET*)
2. Remove the front panel display cable (grey connectors)
3. There are 7x M4 screws mounting the FPDB to the chassis, carefully remove each screw while
holding the FPDB to prevent it from falling.
4. Gently, remove the FPDB from the chassis and place in an anti-static bag.
Assembly

1. If currently fitted, remove the hard disk metal bracket (See page
*DA_REMOVE_HARDDISK_BRACKET*)
2. Gently insert the FPDB into position, whilst ensuring that it is aligned with the chassis mounting
pillars.
