Replacing the AX Motherboard
CAUTION:
The motherboard is sensitive to electrostatic discharge, ensure that you are properly earthed before
attempting to remove the board. Handle the motherboard carefully, holding it by the edges and do
not flex or stress. Keep it in static proof packing while out of the unit.

PROCEDURE:
Disassembly

1.
Remove the daughter expansion board, if applicable. (See page
*DA_REMOVE_DAUGHTER_BOARD*)
2.
Remove the modem. (See page *DA_REMOVE_MODEM* and
*DA_REMOVE_MODEM_BRACKET_BOARD*)
3.
Remove all of the cables attached to the motherboard.
4.
The connectors on the motherboard are secured to the rear of the chassis with 6x No.4 10mm
pan head screws and 2x M3 6mm screws above the ethernet and s-video connectors. See
figure 1.
5.
At each corner you will find 4x M3 6mm screws and a further 1xM3 6m screw between the
memory module and IDE sockets all with shakeproof washers. (See figure 2 and page
*DA_MOTHERBOARD_LAYOUT* for motherboard layout).
6.
Remove 2x M4 screws from the motherboard if the unit does not have a daughter expansion
board, See figure 3.
7.
Carefully remove each of the 5x M3 screws and store in a safe place.
8.
Gently lift the motherboard out of the unit, while avoiding damage to the components under-
neath the motherboard.
