6. The unit says that it can't find a boot device shortly after displaying the 'XiVA' splash screen.
§
This means that the hard disk(s) are not being detected. Make sure that the power and IDE
cable from the motherboard are fitted properly.
§
Inspect the hard disk(s) and check that the jumpers have been set correctly, if there is more
than one disk then make sure one is master (main XiVA software) and the other is slave (media
only).
§
Exchange the hard disk(s) for a known working one.
§
Swap the IDE cable as it may be damaged.
§
Check that the correct voltages are delivered to the drives by the motherboard. See the
'Motherboard Check' section for more details.
AUDIO PROBLEMS
1. There is no audio output from the unit.
§
Check the following :-
-
Output cables are properly connected and the amplifier is switched on.
-
Cables used have been tested and known to work.
-
The correct input on the amplifier is selected.
-
A track or album is currently playing and it is set to the right output. Check other tracks in
case there are long blank lead-in or lead-out sections.
-
Audio has not been muted or volume has been turned down on either the amplifier or unit.
-
There is a data signal if using either the optical or digital outputs on the amplifier or D/A
convertor.

2. There is distortion on the analogue and/or digital outputs.
§
Distortion on the outputs can be caused by a number of factors:-

Check that the inputs on the amplifier are working with a known unit

The track(s) currently played are distorted, try another album.

Incorrect or fluctuating voltage delivered to the motherboard by the power supply.

The motherboard could be faulty.

3. The audio is occasionally glitching.
§
Cold reboot the unit to see if it clears the problem.
§
Try playing another album to see whether it is an issue with the particular tracks being played.
§
Check to make sure that the power to unit is stable. See the 'Power Check' section.

Methodically exchange the expansion board and motherboard
