Connection Preferences

The Connection Preferences screen enables you to define the settings for the serial, modem,
and IR communications.
To define the Connection Preferences:
1. Tap either the modem or direct box, depending on whether you will be performing
communication via a modem, or directly using a serial cable/cradle or IR
communication.
2. Tap the Touch Tone or Rotary box in the Connection Preferences screen.
Note: Select the Rotary setting only if you are certain that your telephone
service does not support Touch Tone dialing.
3. Tap the Name pick list and select the type of modem connected to your SPT 1700
terminal, or pick the preferred method of communication. Select direct serial if you
are using a cradle, or select direct IR if you are using IR communication.
4. Tap the Port pick list and select the port through which communication will take
place, either cradle or IR Comm.
5. Tap the Speed pick list and select the speed for communication.
6. Tap the Flow Ctl (Flow Control) pick list and select either Automatic, On (Xon) or
Off (Xoff) flow control for the modem connection.
7. If using a modem, tap the Speaker pick list and select the speaker volume that you
want for the modem.
8. If necessary, edit the String text to change the modem setup string.
