Checking PTT Fluid Level

1) Raise the engine to a full-tilt up position.
2) Lower the manual tilt lock lever (1).
3) Remove the oil filler plug (2).

4) If fluid can be seen at filler plug level, the reservoir is
full.
5) If fluid level is low, refill with the recommended PTT
fluid.
CAUTION
To ensure consistent pump operation, do not
mix different types of fluid.
Recommended PTT fluid
Dexron III automatic transmission fluid or
equivalent
6) Reinstall oil filler plug.

Air Bleeding from PTT Unit

1) Check that the manual release valve (1) is tightened
to the specified torque.
CAUTION
Do not over tighten manual release valve.
Tightening torque
Manual release valve (a): 3.0 N·m (0.3 kgf-m, 2.2
lbf-ft)
Direction of rotation
Counterclockwise: Open
Clockwise: Close
(a)
2) Operate the PTT switch, raising and lowering the
motor up and down (full tilt position to full trim down
position) 4 to 5 times.
3) Check PTT fluid level, topping off if necessary.
4) Reinstall oil filler plug.
