Connecting to the Internet using IP40
MAC Cloning
Some ISPs require registration of MAC addresses of the computer behind the cable modem
before an Internet connection can be established.
The Nokia IP40 takes the place of the computer behind the Cable modem and the local user can
use MAC Cloning to enter the original computer MAC address without contacting the ISP for
changing that information.
To configure for cable modem connection
1. Enter the Host name.
This field is optional. It might be required by your ISP and if so the ISP provides it.
2. Click Next.
The Confirmation message appears.
3. Click Next.
The system attempts to connect to the Internet.
At the end of the connection process the Connected message appears. Once connected, the
wizard will prompt you to register your details and set up your subscription options, which
vary from product to product.
4. Follow the instructions until the wizard is done, and then click Finish.
