This document is meant as an introduction/guide to how a Nokia IP530 can be flashed, i did it with what's all in here. I am not, nor do I pretend to be, a Nokia IP530 (for its original BIOS that is) expert. ;-) I am just some guy who has implemented coreboot on the IP530 and likes computers more than most people.
Please note that this writer is dyslexic. And so forgive me any mistakes. This HOWTO will go over the basics of how the flash rom of a Nokia IP530 can be flashed. This HOWTO describes the procedure for replacing the original bios with the open source BIOS Coreboot.
Coreboot BIOS image (www.coreboot.org) with SeaBios (www.seabios.org) you can directly start with this procedure. The original Nokia IP530 BIOS will only boot a FreeBSD disk, on flash or real disk. When using a Flash I suggest use a 1Gb Compact Flash card in an adaptor in a donor PC, otherwise use a normal HDD in the donor PC.

Place the CF card or HDD (when installing a HDD removed the CF card (if still present) from the IP530, you don't need it). Connect a NUL-Modem cable between the IP530 and a other system where you can run a terminal program (or even a real serial terminal).
Now the Flashrom program shows information about its self and continues with the message Erasing the flash rom. And continues with programming the chip. Now the new Coreboot BIOS is in the Nokia. As an extra step you can check it with the following command >flashrom -V <imagefile>...
