Remove Camshaft

1. Remove governor spool (8) from camshaft (7),
Fig. 26. Discard gasket and O-ring.
2. Rotate crankshaft and camshaft until timing
marks (9) align. Remove camshaft.
3. Remove tappets.

Remove Pistons and Connecting Rods

NOTE: Remove any carbon or ridge at the top of
1. Remove #2 connecting rod cap.

2. Push connecting rod and piston assembly (11)
3. Repeat for #1 cylinder (10).

Remove Crankshaft

Remove crankshaft (1) from cylinder, Fig. 28.

AFTER DISASSEMBLY

cylinder bores to prevent breaking rings
when removing piston and connecting rod
assemblies.

cap to rod to prevent interchanging.

• Remove gasket material from ALL surfaces.
• Remove oil seals.
• Thoroughly clean parts in solvent.
• Organize all components. Keep parts that are
assemblies together.

