You can also use the VALVE FORCE [OUTPUT LEVEL]
knob to set this.
You can use MIDI NRPN control change messages to
control the VALVE FORCE [ON/OFF] key and the
INPUT TRIM, ULTRA BOOST, TUBE GAIN, and OUT-
PUT LEVEL parameters (knobs) (☞p.285, 294). These
parameters are controlled on the global MIDI channel
that you specify in MIDI Channel (Global P1).
Depending on the sound you are using, you may hear
noise if you turn the knobs or edit the Valve Force
parameters while sound is being produced.
Placement
[Final, Insert (Use 3/4 BUS)]
This parameter specifies the placement of the Valve Force
circuit.
Final: Valve Force is placed after analog conversion by the
DAC (Digital Analog Convert) for the L/R output. After
passing through Valve Force, the signal is output from
AUDIO OUTPUT L/MONO, R, and headphone output.
VOLUME adjusts the level after the signal passes through
Valve Force.
Use this setting when you want to apply Valve Force to the
final stage of the output in order to give a nice boost to the
sound or to add the distinctive warmth and tone of vacuum
tubes.

You can't use Valve Force on the S/P DIF output, which
is processed in digital form, nor when resampling with
L/R selected as the Source BUS.
Insert (Use 3/4 BUS): Valve Force is placed after analog con-
version by the DAC (Digital Analog Converter) for outputs
3/4. Bus 3/4 will be the input to Valve Force. (The signal
will also be output to Individual 3/4.)
After passing through Valve Force, the signal is converted
by the ADC (Analog Digital Converter) back into a digital
signal, and sent to the insert effects, master effects, L/R, and
Individual 1/2 buses according to the settings of "Pan
(CC#8)," "BUS Select," "Send 1," and "Send 2."
This setting lets you specify the order in which Valve Force,
insert effects, and master effects are connected, allowing a
wide variety of combinations. (☞Example settings)

Example settings:
You can insert Valve Force at the desired position by setting
"BUS Select" (8–1c) or the post-IFX "BUS Sel." (8–2a). The
output destination from Valve Force is set by Valve Force
"BUS Sel." (9–5a).
• OSC → Valve Force → audio output
"BUS Select": 3/4 (Tube)
Valve Force "BUS Sel.": L/R or 1/2
• OSC → Valve Force → insert effect → master effects →
audio output
"BUS Select": 3/4 (Tube)
Valve Force "BUS Sel.": IFX1...5
Post-IFX "Send1" or "Send2": as desired
"BUS Sel." following IFX: L/R or 1/2
Don't set the post-IFX "BUS Sel." to 3/4 (Tube), since
doing so will cause a feedback loop that may cause
unpleasant distortion!
• OSC → insert effect → Valve Force → master effects →
audio output
"BUS Select": IFX1...5
Post-IFX "BUS Sel.": 3/4 (Tube)
Valve Force "BUS Sel.": L/R or 1/2

• OSC → insert effect → Valve Force → insert effect →

Post-IFX "BUS Sel.": 3/4 (Tube)
Valve Force "BUS Sel.": IFX1...5
Valve Force "Send1" or "Send2": as desired
Post-IFX "BUS Sel.": L/R or 1/2
Don't set post-IFX "BUS Sel." to any IFX that precedes
it, since doing so will cause a feedback loop that may
cause unpleasant distortion.
You can apply Valve Force to the external Audio Input
in the same way. (☞Global P0: 0–3a)
9–5b: Post VALVE FORCE Mixer
Pan (CC#8)
Specifies the pan after passing through Valve Force. This
parameter is valid if "BUS Sel." (described below) is set to
L/R, IFX1...5, or 1/2.
You can control this using CC#8 on the global MIDI
channel specified by MIDI Channel (Global P1).
BUS Sel.
[L/R, IFX1...5, 1, 2, 1/2, Off]
Specifies the bus to which the signal will be sent after pass-
ing through Valve Force.
