c. Click the Close or the OK button on the Local Area Connection Properties window (either a
Close or an OK button will be present depending on what changes you made).
5. In the Network Connections window, right click on the name of the connection for your network
adapter, and select Properties from the drop down menu.
6. In the list box at the center of the Local Area Connection Properties window, click on Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) so that it becomes highlighted as shown below and then click the Properties
button.
(Note that you may need to scroll down through the items in the list box to find the Internet Pro-
tocol (TCP/IP) item.)
7. An Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window will open as shown below.
a. Make sure that the Obtain an IP address automatically radio button is selected. If it is
selected, go on to step 8.
b. If it is not selected:
Select the Obtain an IP address automatically radio button.
Click the OK button. A Local Area Connection Properties window will open.
On the LAN Connection Properties window, make sure that Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item
is highlighted and click the Properties button.
