Installing a Hard-Drive Into a Hard-Drive Carrier
CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You
should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your
product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized is not covered by
warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
1 Place the hard-drive into the hard-drive carrier. See Figure 3-15.
2 Replace the four screws securing the hard-drive to the hard-drive carrier.

The sled supports a multiple drive bay design that allows installation of up to
eight 2.5-inch hard-drives or four 3.5-inch hard-drives installed into the sled
cover.

have hard-drive blanks installed.

Combining SAS, SATA, and SSD hard-drives in the same sled
configuration is not supported.

Use only hard-drives that have been tested and approved for use with
the SAS/SATA backplane.
CAUTION:
To prevent data loss, ensure that your operating system supports hot-
swappable drive installation. See the documentation supplied with the operating
system.
