Symptom
The control
panel

Solving Other Problems
Cause
A high-capacity toner
cartridge was
installed, but the toner
size was set at
standard capacity.
The toner cartridge is
defective.
The printer is not
ready when
Configuration was
selected from the
Print menu.
The tray does not
have media.
The printer's doors
aren't closed
securely.
There is a media jam. Check for a media jam.
An error message is
displayed in the
message window.
The printer is set to a
slow printing mode
(for example, for
OHP, thick stock, or
some other special
kind of media).
The printer is set to
power saving mode.
The job is very
complex.
The printer memory is
insufficient.
Solution
In the Quality/Toner menu, choose
Change Size and then select the
capacity listed on the cartridge label.
Remove the toner cartridge and check
for damage. If it is damaged, replace it
(Quality/Toner/Replace).
Make sure that the printer is ready
before trying to print the configuration
page.
Check that the media trays are loaded
with media, in place and secure.
Make sure the doors are closed
securely. Close all doors gently to avoid
jarring the printer. Make sure the waste
toner bottle in installed correctly.
Handle according to the message
displayed.
It takes more time to print with special
media. When using regular paper,
make sure that the media type is set
properly in the driver and the control
panel.
It takes a little time for printing to start in
power saving mode.
Wait. No action needed.
Add more memory.
