Power Cables

An AC mains power cable is not provided with the unit. Refer to the following table for the maximum current capacity
requirements for each cable conductor. If required by local electrical codes, install a fuse or circuit breaker between the
ac mains and the unit. Refer to the following table for current ratings.
The cable cross-section must be suitable for the maximum input current of the instru-
ment. The ground cable must be of the same cross-section as the phase cables.
Safety agency requirements dictate that there must be a way to physically disconnect the AC mains
cable from the unit. The detachable connection plug (see below) may be used as the emergency dis-
connection device. Removing the connector will disconnect AC input power to the unit. Ensure that
the connector is accessible.

Keep the AC mains cables as short as possible. The longer the cable, the greater the voltage loss due to cable resistance.
The safety ground wire must be green. Other colors, shown below, are for illustration purposes.
For heavier AC mains cables, it may be necessary to install a strain relief to reduce weight and eliminate movement at
the cable connector. If possible, attach the strain relief to the side of the instrument rack. Allow sufficient movement at
the cable connector so that the cable connector can be removed from the instrument.
