36 • Operation of the Wallboard dialog (configuring a wallboard)
You can define different views for the fields of a layout. A view determines
conditions, display priority, fonts, and attributes of a field.
To define a view you have to configure a layout and define fields.

What is a view?

A view is the display text for an individual field. A view can only be displayed
by a certain field. A field can show different views at different times. These
relations are organized as parameters of view and field and are similar to but not
identical with the relations between layouts and the whole wallboard.
Three factors influence when a layout is displayed, i.e., priority, formula of
condition, and duration. In this case, priority and formula of condition are part of
the view and can be defined differently for each view. The duration is part of the
super-ordinate field and thus the same for all views of a certain field.
Apart from these differences, the use and effects of priority, formula of
condition, and duration on views and fields match the effects of these factors on
LayoutRelations and layouts for a wallboard. See: What is a layout? and What is
a LayoutRelation?
A field only shows a view if the layout in which the field is integrated is
displayed as well due to its conditions and priorities. The priorities of
LayoutRelations are higher than the priorities of views.
