CAUTION
Do not overtighten the screws to the Fastex fasteners. If you do, the fasteners may distort or
the screw holes may become stripped. While the system board is out, it is possible for the
Fastex fasteners to become dislodged.
To remove the system board:
1. Remove cables connected to the system and option cards, taking note of cable
connections and orientation.
2. Detach the air duct by removing the two screws securing it to the chassis, and then
gently remove the air duct.
3. Lay the chassis down on its right side.
4. Note the locations where all cables connect to the system board.
5. Disconnect all cables from the system board.
6. Note the locations of the option cards, remove them by following instructions in the next
section, and place on an antistatic surface.
7. Remove DIMMs, the processor bus termination card (if installed), and processor
module(s) and place them on an antistatic surface. See the respective procedures above
for details on removing these components.
8. Remove the jackscrews on all external port connectors.
WARNING Use care when removing or installing the screws to avoid damaging components on
the system board.
9. Remove the four screws and plastic rivets on the DPRM, and remove the DPRM from
the chassis.
10. Remove the screws from the system board.
11. Lift the system board out of the chassis and place it on an antistatic surface.
To install a new system board:
1. Place the new system board into the chassis, align all mounting holes, and install the
jackscrews on the external port connectors.
2. Loosely install the remaining screws on the system board, except those for the DPRM.
Do not tighten the screws yet.
