PCSS-A Series Technical Manual
17.13.3 Lazer Safe LZS-2/LZS-2-FG Guarding System
When the LZS-2/LZS-2-FG system is installed with the PCSS, a further speed check is
performed during the deceleration period between mute 1 and mute 2. This is the zone
between which sensor B (mute 1) and then sensor A (mute 2) reach the mute point being
used by the PCSS which is set as 2 mm above the material. During the deceleration period,
the mid mute point speed check is performed when positioned in the middle between the
mute 1 and the mute 2 positions. The speed check comparison value used to monitor the
speed at the mid mute point is the maximum of either 75 mm / sec or half the currently
recorded maximum speed measured by the PCSS during down movement of the pressing
beam.
The deceleration speed at the mid-mute point for the LZS-2 guarding system is also
monitored independently for both Y1 and Y2 (if configured for Y2) of the press brake when
the mid mute position is reached as checked by the position encoders connected to the
PCSS. Should the deceleration speed be exceeded then condition codes 7A04 and 7A05
are displayed by the PCSS to indicate the deceleration speed exceeded condition on Y1 or
Y2 which will cause an emergency stop action of the PCSS to be triggered as described in
Section
17.17.
17.13.4 Lazer Safe IRIS, IRIS Plus, LZS-XL Guarding Systems
When these block laser systems are installed and configured with the PCSS, an additional
two speed checks are performed, refer to
The first speed check occurs at the commencement of the deceleration ramp position which
is calculated based on the Manufacturer's Stopping Distance or MSD defined in the
ISaGRAF user application. The ramp distance is the specific distance before the mute (or
slow speed position should the IRIS/IRIS Plus be installed) which is calculated as shown
below.
When the pressing beam reaches this distance above the mute or slow speed position an
initial speed check is performed to confirm deceleration has begun. The speed check
comparison value used to monitor the speed at the start of the ramp is the maximum of either
75 mm / sec or 95% of the currently recorded maximum speed measured by the PCSS during
down movement of the pressing beam.
