To select emergency stop option 2 during the PCSS configuration, set the initial value for the
emergency stop option selection variable to 2 as described in
that this option will be initialised and all required inputs and outputs are connected when the
PCSS software is started.

Emergency Stop Option 3
12.3.1
The operation of the door switches for the emergency stop option 3 is the same as used for
option 1. Further information on the connections for the AIO and functionality for emergency
stop option 1 can be found in
12.3.2
In this emergency stop option, a single input is available for monitoring the level or parallelism
of the pressing beam between the left side (Y1 axis) and the right side (Y2 axis) of the press
brake. The connections are shown in
Each Y1 and Y2 level switch requires a normally closed (NC) contact which are connected
in series and monitored by a single safety input (a pulsed input/output pair). The normally
closed contacts should be set to operate when the absolute maximum parallelism is
reached or exceeded.
When an out of level condition occurs, an immediate emergency stop condition is triggered
preventing any further operator control. Once the emergency stop is active the press beam
can only be moved by holding the reset button and moving the press beam up until the out
of level condition is cleared. Normal operation can then resume.
Details of these conditions appear in
The level limits can vary between different press brakes and the maximum parallelism that
can be applied depends on their mechanical design. The only method that the PCSS utilises
in checking that the level limits of the press brake are within the acceptable range is by
monitoring level limit switches. It is therefore important to ensure that the operation of these
switches occurs correctly according to the limits specified for the press brake.
