Down Enable Safety Function Options
These options enable and control movement of the pressing beam when initiated by the
operator of the press brake. The down enable function option to be selected will depend on
the solenoid valve control strategy needed, which is based primarily on the hydraulic
configuration of the press brake on which the PCSS is being installed.
It is therefore important to review the hydraulic configuration and schematic for the machine
and determine the down enable function option that is required. Selecting the appropriate
down enable option should be based on the solenoid valve outputs that need to be controlled
and the control strategy for each of these outputs.
I/O channel 9 of the ANO I/O board for the Kernel Software Interface allows the down enable
option required to be selected. Entering the appropriate value for the Down Enable Option
Selection Variable as detailed in each of the options described below will initialise the desired
down enable option when the PCSS software is started.
In some cases, the behaviour of the selected Down Enable Option can be modified by setting
the value of the Down Enable Attribute via ANO2, channel 1 of the Kernel Software Interface.
These attributes are described in

Note:
When the supply voltage used to energise inductive type loads such as valve
solenoids, contactors or relays is removed, a reverse voltage is generated due
to the characteristics of this type of device. This reverse voltage can be much
higher than the original supply voltage used to energise the device in the order
of three times or more depending on the inductive load.

Keep the low speed solenoids on during all low speed operation, Down
Enable Options 1, 2, 3, 18 and 20.
Turn off all outputs for Start-up Tests, except for Down Enable Option 3, 12,
13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33. Down Enable Option 20 is a
special case, refer to
Table 11-18
Enables a single Start-up test for all Down Enable Options.
Set the enable outputs ON by default, for Down Enable Option 29.
Perform the hardware checks when outputs are in the off state, Down Enable
Option 29.
Configures the PCSS for an up-acting machine, Down Enable Option 29
default on.
Changes the default state off HS valve output during machine up movement:
Down Enable Option 8 and 22 switch on HS valve output.
Down Enable Option 11 switch off HS valve output.
Down Enable Option 1 alternate HWI configuration for hybrid hydraulic
machines (turn off Y06 during both start-up tests).
Down Enable Option 36 slow up option as described in
Turn on safety output during decompression, Down Enable 7 and 10.
Optional check for pressing speed during low speed operation.
Alternative operation for Down Enable option 40.
