11.29.3 Up-acting Machine
The Up-Acting Machine option is selected by setting Bit 5 of the Down Enable Attribute (see
Table 11-1) in addition to Down Enable Option 29.
Note:
The Up-Acting Machine Option can only be selected when the Default On
behaviour has been selected by setting Bit 3 of the Down Enable Attribute, see
Section 11.29.2
If the PCSS-A turns the enable outputs off (for example when the laser guard is obstructed),
they will remain off after the operator has released the foot pedal. The outputs will not be
turned on again until the foot pedal is pressed to initiate down movement. The outputs will be
turned on by an up command, but only for the duration of the up command. At the end of up
movement they are again turned off and will remain off until the foot pedal is pressed to
initiate down movement.
To select down enable option 29 during the PCSS configuration, set the initial value for Down
Enable Option Selection variable to 29 as described in
option and all required outputs are initialised when the PCSS software is started.

This down enable option provides outputs for control of the following solenoid valves on the
press brake.
•
High Speed Solenoids;
•
Prefill Solenoid;
•
Safety Solenoids;
•
Proportional Pressure Solenoid; and
•
Proportional Solenoids Enable.
The down enable condition from the down enable option is not physically connected to an
output, but is one of the conditions that must be met before down movement is allowed by
the PCSS. This condition used from the down enable option indicates that the down switch
has been pressed and that down movement of the pressing beam can occur due to the
required safety conditions being met.
