PCSS-A Series Technical Manual
This down enable option provides outputs for control of the following solenoid valves on the
press brake.
MB2 Solenoids;
MB3 or High Speed Solenoids;
MB4 or Safety Solenoids;
MB5 Solenoids;
MB6 Solenoids; and
MB7 Solenoids.
The down enable condition from the down enable option is not physically connected to an
output but is one of the conditions that must be met before down movement is allowed by the
PCSS. This condition used from the down enable option indicates that the down switch has
been pressed and that down movement of the pressing beam can occur due to the required
safety conditions being met.
The down high speed condition is enabled when operation in high speed is required, but as
with the down enable condition, it is not physically connected to an output. This condition is
used to indicate that high speed down movement is enabled. When down low speed
condition is not active, but the down enable condition is set, then the down high speed
condition will be enabled or set.
The down low speed condition is enabled when slow speed operation is required, but as with
the previous two internal conditions, it is not physically connected to an output. This condition
is used to indicate that slow speed down movement is enabled. Any of the following variables
being set, will cause a latched condition to be set which is not reset until the TDC input to the
Kernel Software Interface is set:
Pressing speed;
Crawl speed;
CNC mute has been reached;
CNC controller has not yet been referenced;
Pressing of the material has begun; or
High speed disable distance before mute position has been reached.
When this latched condition and the down enable condition are both set, then the down low
speed condition will be enabled or set.
Additional specific conditions for this down enable option are also required in order to control
the valve outputs correctly and are provided by inputs to the Kernel Software Interface (refer
Section
7). These conditions are listed below as well as being shown in the timing diagram.
Pre-Closing Ready – DO1 I/O channel 43
Pre-Pressing Ready – DO1 I/O channel 37
To select down enable option 36 during the PCSS configuration, set the initial value for Down
Enable Option Selection variable to 36 as described in
option and all required outputs are initialised when the PCSS software is started.
11.36.1 Standard Operation
Providing the slow up option has not been enabled, the standard operation will be applied as
described below and shown in
The MB2 solenoids are connected to the safety output Y02 on the PCSS and allows control
of these valves on the press brake. This output will be switched on providing that:
Down high speed is set;
Pre-Closing Ready is reset; and
Pre-Pressing Ready is also reset.
