Alphanumeric Display Operation
The alphanumeric display on the front panel shows operational status and conditions of the
PCSS. Upon powering up the PCSS unit, the status of each of the start-up checks is
displayed as it is performed. When the start-up checks have been completed, operational
status of the PCSS is displayed.
During operation, any condition code generated by the PCSS software (in the event of a
safety condition) or user programmed conditions in the ISaGRAF application will be
displayed.
Messages are displayed in the following order of priority:
1. Software-generated condition codes.
2. User-defined condition codes.
3. PCSS software version, ISaGRAF application and function option information.
Priority is always given to any predefined condition codes generated by the PCSS software
over user-defined condition codes and other PCSS information that is to be displayed.
All software-generated or user-defined condition codes that are displayed are transferred to
the CNC using the serial communications link to the PCSS. Depending on the software
condition code displayed, it will be either automatically reset or require resetting by the error
reset function option selected. Any user-defined condition code that is displayed must be
reset by the ISaGRAF user application.
The CPU channel selection can be performed by pressing the left or right arrows below the
LCD display. This changes the information and status from either CPU channel 1 or CPU
channel 2.
During normal operation, the PCSS display will scroll system information which is
continuously looped. The scrolling speed can be increased by pressing the up arrow; the
scrolling can be halted by pressing the down arrow.
When a condition code is displayed the information line will stop scrolling and a static four
character condition code will be displayed.
information line will then be displayed again.
The alphanumeric LCD display contrast is preset in the factory. If needed, the contrast can
be adjusted using a 1mm flat bladed screwdriver via an access hole on the left side of the
PCSS-A.
