Mending broken ink ribbon or retransfer film

If the ink ribbon or retransfer film breaks, "Media Broken" is displayed on the
LCD panel. Broken ink ribbon is shown in the following example; repairing
broken retransfer film uses the same steps.

Slide the door latch to the right and open the printer door.
Remove the cartridge by pressing the cartridge eject button.

Trim the ends of the broken

portions evenly.
Do not remove the used ink

ribbon or film from the take-up
spool.
Align the ends of the broken

media evenly and apply tape
to secure.

Turn the take-up spool
clockwise until the mended
portion is wound onto the
spool two or three turns.
Reinstall the cartridge into the

printer until it clicks into
position.
Close printer door.

Initialize the ribbon or film as
