specified. For example: Timed Lock Out is set to 1 minute; 30 seconds after the test has begun, the operator reviews
the test parameters by touching Views Test; the DVNext will lock automatically 1 minute after that key press (90
seconds after the test began running).
TIP: The Lock Out feature can be useful if the operator must leave the DVNext unattended during a test.
The Disable Account After parameter defines how many failed Log In attempts are allowed before the User ID is
locked. The range for Lock Out After is 1 – 20. Once a User ID is locked, the administrator must reset the password.
TIP: If the Require Login is checked, the default Administrator password is "admin", the administrator should
change the default password prior to placing the instrument.
The Password Policies menu allows for the administrator to set the policies for passwords of users on the DVNext
device. These options include setting the minimum length,
require a capital letter, require a number, require a
special character, and use password expiration. When password expiration is set to on, the password for every user
(including the administrator) will expire the set amount of time.

5.4.3 Electronic signatures (compliant instruments only)

The Compliant Edition DVNext can be set up to require electronic signatures for files on the device. The
Administrator can enable this through selecting the "Data Files Must Be Signed" option and ensuring the check box
is checked (Note: The default option for electronic signatures is "On"). In this menu, the Administrator can select
what workflow they would like to require on the documents: Submit/Approve or Submit/Review/Approve. For more
information about electronic signatures, see the section on 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance.

5.4.4 Users and access (compliant instruments only)

The Compliant edition DVNext allows the administrator to create, edit, and delete additional user accounts.
Power User and User accounts can be created to restrict access and enhance data tracking. The two user levels
can be customized by the Administrator. All user accounts require a password for access to the DVNext. In addition
to setting the user level access, the administrator is able to set the username, password, and e-signature role with a
full name if electronic signatures are turned on (see section V.4.3 for information on enabling electronic signatures).
The Power User and User level access settings are divided into four categories: General Settings, Data Access
Functions, Viscosity Test Setup and Yield Test Setup. Table V-1 shows the factory default user settings for Power User
and User. The administrator can customize both the Power User and User through the Power User Level Access and
User Level Access in the Users and Access Menu. Place a check mark beside an attribute that is available to the user
and remove the check mark from an attribute that will be unavailable to the user.
TIP: Users and User Access settings can be exported to a Flash USB drive. This file can be uploaded to another
DVNext to quickly duplicate User settings.
The User ID utilized at Log In will be reflected in a saved data set. This parameter is viewable in the Results screen by
selecting Device Info.
TIP: The User ID information is only visible once a data set is loaded from memory. An unsaved data set will not
show the User ID.
User accounts can be managed within the Users and Access menu through Edit Users, Add User and Delete User.
