Maintenance
Lubricants and operating fluids
– Sulfur content factor is defined in the table on KD fuel sulfur content factors
(→ tab. 49, p.
As an example:
– Standard engine oil change interval is 500 operating hours.
– Engine oil category is 3, so engine oil category factor is 2.
– Sulfur content is 1.3%, so sulfur content factor is ¼.
– Change interval = 500 * 2 * 1/4 = 250 hours
Engine oil monitoring
Close monitoring of engine oil quality brings benefits in several areas:
– Optimization of engine oil-change intervals
·
Improves your economics
·
Reduces environmental footprint
– Optimization of diesel engine availability
– Early detection of potential damage
When one of these warning values is reached in operating engine oil:
– Immediately collect a new engine oil sample.
– Make sure that the new sample is analyzed quickly.
– Investigate on source of deviation.
– Reduce monitoring interval if necessary.
When one of these maximum values is reached in operating engine oil:
– Change engine oil immediately.
– Investigate on source of deviation.
