Hazards by entanglement, trapping, ejection of parts or impact.
On starting and while operation, hazards by entanglement, trapping, impact by ejection of parts
will result in death or serious injury.
u Standing in the vicinity of the engine while starting or operating the manufacturer's machi‐
nery is forbidden.
Only proceed with commissioning and test run tasks under the following conditions:
– Constant low idle speed
– Constant supervision of an experienced supervisor
– Constant visual contact of a mechanical engineering technician
– Immediate vicinity of an emergency stop
Information
Accessing or standing in the vicinity of the running engine is considered as foreseeable misuse.
In this case, KOHLER is not liable for any damage or injuries. The risk is borne solely by the user.
Information
The low idle condition is defined by:
Engine speed < 800 min
Engine load < 10%
Only personnel authorized by the manufacturer of the machinery may access the engine room
or compartment.
The following rules and conditions shall be established by the manufacturer of the machinery
according to the application:
– The "General Safety Instructions" are fulfilled.
– All local safety conditions are defined and fulfilled.
– The low idle speed is engaged.

2.7.4 Emergency stop

Information
The machinery owner is responsible for marking the hazardous areas and the fail-safe devices.
The emergency stops must withstand the operational conditions, be kept visible and legible
during the entire life cycle.
Additional emergency stops and measures according to project standards and local regulations
and standards are possible.
The emergency stop button and signals, as the acknowledge buttons are described in the
generator set manual.
NOTICE
Property damage by misuse of emergency stops.
Misusing the emergency stops to stop the engine could lead to property damage.
u Initiate an emergency stop only in emergency situations.
