This chapter describes how to get started with setting up the Scalar i2000 library. The steps involved in
setup include:

Unpacking and inspecting

Checking the accessories
•
Setting up the library
Unpacking and Inspecting
Use the instructions supplied with the library to unpack. When you take off the packing material from the
parts in the base of the module, put the parts in a safe area so they will not get damaged.

Move the library into place. Allow at least 32 inches of clearance for the front and back doors so service
personnel can open them.

Locate the set of keys, which are in a plastic bag, taped inside the back of the library.
Checking the Accessories
The Scalar i2000 can be ordered in different configurations. Based on your configuration, check to make
certain that the following items are included with the library and that none of them are damaged.
Libraries with native SCSI drives:
•
Ordered number of SCSI LVD drives
•
One terminator and one cleaning cartridge per drive
•
One library power cord
Libraries with native Fiber Channel (FC) drives:
•
Ordered number of native FC drives
•
One cleaning cartridge per drive
•
One library power cord
