Field Mode Operation: (Legacy Operation)

All the data streams in a particular field will be passed, removed, or
replaced with new data.
Previously recorded captions in the same field will be removed.
This mode is only suitable for encoding data on material that has not
been previously captioned.

1.2.7 Stream Mode Operation:

Each individual data stream can be manipulated independent of the
other data streams.
Incoming captions can be passed through on a channel by channel
basis, or replaced with new data.
New caption data may be inserted into existing data streams.
In stream mode, the unit can store text articles and insert them in any of
the text streams on a repetitive basis. The user can program the frequency
and number of times each article will be inserted. These articles replace
any previously encoded data in the respective channels, and can be
simultaneously encoded along with real time caption data. The 8084(AD)
ships with a software utility to allow the user to load text articles easily.
In stream mode, the unit can also store Extended Data Service packets
and insert them in the XDS data stream on a repetitive basis. The user can
program the number of times each packet will be inserted. These packets
replace any previously encoded data in the XDS channel, and can be
simultaneously encoded along with real time caption data.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) was instituted to take advantage of the later
hours of daylight between April and October. In 1966, the U.S. Congress
passed the Uniform Time Act that standardized the length of Daylight
Saving Time. For those parts of the United States that observe Daylight
Saving Time, it begins at 2 a.m. local time on the first Sunday of April.
Time reverts to standard time at 2 a.m. local time on the last Sunday of
October. In the spring clocks spring forward by 1 hour to 3 a.m.; in the fall
clocks fall back by 1 hour to 1 a.m. Arizona, Hawaii and most of Indiana
have chosen not to observe Daylight Saving Time.
People often consider daylight saving time to be an "event" that happens
twice a year, setting their clocks ahead or back by one hour. In reality,
DST is in effect (ON) for six months of the year and not in effect (OFF) for
the other six months, in regions that observe DST.
