Caption Encoder is shown above. The block diagram for the model 8084
Digital Closed Caption encoder is almost identical, lacking only the
composite analog video path and upstream caption source selector.
Details of the "Caption Processing Engine" when operating in Stream mode
are shown in Figure 5-2. The Caption Processing Engine is implemented
entirely in device firmware. There are separate data source selectors for
each of the nine data streams (CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, T1, T2, T3, T4,
XDS). Some of these have been omitted for clarity. The data source
selectors are typically controlled via commands from the serial control
ports.
