For technical reasons, wheels from other vehicles
cannot normally be used. This applies under
certain circumstances even to wheels of the same
vehicle model.
The tyres and rims released by Volkswagen are
designed for the respective vehicle model and
make a decisive contribution to satisfactory
roadholding and safe driving characteristics.
Wheel bolts
The wheel bolts must always be tightened to the
correct torque
p. 298.
Wheels with screwed decorative elements
The wheels can be equipped with
interchangeable decorative elements, fitted to
the wheel with safety screws. Damaged
decorative elements may only be replaced by a
specialist company. Volkswagen recommends
Volkswagen Dealers for this.
Wheel identification
Due to legal requirements in some countries,
information on new wheels must contain some
specific wheel characteristics. Depending on the
country, the following wheel information may
be available:
– Stamp of conformity
– Rim size
– Name of manufacturer or brand
– Date of manufacture
– Country of origin
– Manufacturing number
– Raw materials
– Part code
WARNING
The use of damaged or unsuitable wheels can
compromise driving safety and lead to
accidents and serious injuries.
● Use only wheels released for the vehicle.
● Check the wheels regularly for damage
and replace them if necessary.
