Troubleshooting

No camera image, fault message, system shuts
down
– Clean the camera or remove stickers or
accessories from the camera
– Check for damage.
The system behaves differently than
expected.
Several causes are possible:
– The camera is dirty
dirt and snow, the camera image may be
compromised by residues or layers of
cleaning agents.
– The system prerequisites must be fulfilled
p. 137.
– The chamber is covered with water.
– The vehicle is damaged in the area of the
camera, e.g. due to parking impacts.
– The camera pick-up areas are obstructed by
accessories, e.g. bicycle rack systems.
– Paint modifications were made in the area of
the camera or construction modifications,
e.g. at the front or on the chassis.
Solution for all cases
– Temporarily shut down the system.
– Check if one of the listed causes matches
the problem.
– After elimination of the source of the faults,
the system can be reconnected.
– If the system behaves unexpectedly, have the
system checked by a Volkswagen dealer or a
specialist company.

Introduction to the topic
The parking steering assistant actively
controls the steering of the vehicle
when parking and leaving the parking
space.
The parking steering assistant is an extension of
the parking aid.

The parking steering assistant controls the
steering of the vehicle automatically. The driver
must accelerate, change gear and brake!
WARNING
Rapid rotational movements of the steering
wheel can cause serious injury.
● During the manoeuvring procedure, do not
touch the steering wheel until requested to
do so by the system.
● Exception: in dangerous situations,
intervene and take the wheel.
NOTICE
The parking steering assistant is only guided by
parked vehicles, curb guides or other elements.
Make sure that the tyres and rims are not
damaged during parking. If this is the case,
please park the vehicle in a safe manner.
