● With the cooling system deactivated, the
windows can fog up very quickly in air
recirculation mode, severely limiting
visibility conditions.
● Switch off the air recirculation mode when it
is not required.
NOTICE
Do not smoke with the air recirculation mode on.
Sucked-in smoke may be deposited on the
cooling system evaporator and on the dust and
pollen filter, causing long-lasting unpleasant
odours.
At very high external temperatures, it is
recommended to select the recirculation
mode.

Troubleshooting

at the beginning of this
chapter on page 98.
The following tips and operating guidelines will
help you to use the system correctly.
The cooling system inside the vehicle operates
only when the engine is running and the fan is
activated.
The air conditioning works at maximum
efficiency if the windows are closed. If the
interior of the vehicle is very hot because the
vehicle has been left standing in the sun,
opening the windows briefly can speed up the
cooling process.
Why does the cooling system automatically
switch off or not switch on at all?
– The engine is not running.
– The fan is switched off.
– The air conditioning fuse is blown.
– The ambient temperature is below
approximately +3°C.

– The air conditioning compressor temporarily
cut out due to the very high temperature of
the engine coolant.
– There is a fault in the vehicle. The air

Regulation for ideal visibility conditions
– Keep the windscreen air inlet free of ice or
leaves to improve the heating or cooling
performance and to prevent the windscreen
from becoming soaked
– Keep the air gap in the rear luggage
compartment area clear so that air can
circulate from the front to the rear of the
vehicle.
– When the engine coolant has reached its
operating temperature, more heating power

will be achieved and glass fogging will be
faster.
Dust and pollen filter
The dust and pollen filter reduces the
penetration of particles from the outside air
into the vehicle interior.
The dust and pollen filter needs to be changed
regularly in order not to impair the efficiency of
the air conditioning. If the vehicle is often
driven in a heavily polluted environment, the
filter must be changed between service events

Water vapour under the vehicle
If the outside air humidity and ambient
temperature are high, condensed water may
drip from the evaporator of the cooling system
and form a puddle of water under the vehicle.
This is normal, it is not a sign of leakage!
The
air-conditioning
consumes engine power during cooling.
The following should be taken into account to
minimise the cooling running time. To minimise
