● Before driving on a longer route with steep
gradients, slow down, shift to a lower gear
(in manual transmission or in Tiptronic
mode of the automatic transmission). In
this way, the engine brake can be fully
utilised and the brake can be relieved.
● Non-stock or defective front spoilers may
restrict the air supply to the brakes and
cause the brakes to overheat.
WARNING
Wet or frozen brakes, or salted brakes brake
later and increase the braking distance.
● Experiment with the brakes by cautious
testing.
● Always dry the brakes by some cautious
braking and keep them free of ice and salt
when visibility, weather, track and traffic
conditions permit.

thus cause accidents and serious injuries.
● Never leave the vehicle running with the
engine switched off.
● When the brake booster is not working or
the vehicle is being towed, the brake pedal
must be pressed harder, as the braking
distance increases due to the lack of brake
force assistance.
NOTICE
● Never let the brakes "slip" with light pressure
on the pedal when braking is not really
necessary. Constant pressure on the brake
pedal causes overheating of the brakes. This
can significantly decrease braking
performance, increase the braking force, and
increase the braking power.

When checking the front brake pads, they must
also be checked whether the front brake pads
have been worn or not.
The thickness of all brake pads should be
checked visually at regular intervals by
inspecting the brake pads from the wheel
openings or from the underside of the vehicle.
The thickness of all brake pads must be

Driving with a loaded vehicle
To ensure good driving characteristics of a
loaded vehicle, observe the following:
– Securely stow all baggage volumes
– Accelerate particularly cautiously and
carefully.
– Avoid sudden steering and braking
manoeuvres.
– Braking earlier than usual.
– If necessary, refer to the information on
driving with a trailer
WARNING
A shifting load could endanger the stability and
safety of the vehicle and lead to accidents and
serious injuries.
● Secure the load correctly so that it does not
slip.
● In the case of heavy objects, use suitable
lashing straps or tensioning straps.
● Securely lock the rear seat backrest.
