Navigation
Introduction to the topic
The current position of the vehicle is
determined by the GPS satellite system (Global
Positioning System). Sensors in the vehicle
measure the distance travelled. All the
measured values are equalised with the detailed
map material and in accordance with the stored
traffic guidance. With all available data, the
radio establishes an ideal route to the journey
destination.
A destination or a special destination, e.g.
service station or hotel, can be entered as the
destination of the trip.
Audible navigation warnings and graphical
displays on the navigation equipment and on the
combined instrument lead to the destination of
the journey.
Depending on the country, some functions of the
radio may no longer be selectable on the display
above a certain speed. This is not a malfunction
of the function, but corresponds to legal
equirements
.
Navigation guidelines
When the radio cannot receive GPS satellite data
(dense foliage, underground garages), navigation
will still be possible by means of the vehicle's
sensor system.
Navigation warnings cannot be issued if they
have been muted.
After the route has been calculated, the first
navigation instruction is given. Before turning, 3
navigation instructions are issued, e.g. in the
urban cycle "Turn next left", "Turn left after 300
m" and "Turn left".
The distances that are announced depend
essentially on the type of road and the speed at
which the vehicle is travelling. On a road, for
example, navigation instructions are anticipated
in relation to urban sections.
On roads with several lanes or branches as well
as roundabouts, corresponding navigation
instructions are also issued, e.g. "Exit the
roundabout at the second exit".
When the destination is reached, a navigation
signal is emitted that the "Destination" has been
reached.
If the destination cannot be reached with
rigour, because it is in a non-digitised area, a
navigation indication is given that the
"Destination area" has been reached. An
additional indication is given about the cardinal
point towards which you are driving and the
distance to the predefined destination.
Navigation continues "off-road".
During dynamic navigation to the destination,
attention is drawn to the congestion announced
in the itinerary. If, due to traffic congestion, the
route is recalculated, an additional navigation
message is issued.
During the transmission of a navigation message,
the corresponding volume can be changed with
the sensor fields , up to a defined minimum or
maximum value. All other navigation messages
are then transmitted with this volume.

Limitations on navigation
If the device cannot receive GPS satellite data
(dense tree foliage, underground garages),
navigation is still possible by means of the
vehicle's sensor system.
In regions that have not been digitised or have
been incompletely digitised on the data carrier,
the Infotainment system also aims to enable a
drive to the destination.
In the case of missing or incomplete navigation
data, the position of the vehicle may not be
accurately determined. This may result in the
navigation not being as accurate as it usually is.
Driving through the streets is subject to
constant alterations, e.g. new streets, road
works, blockages at entrances, alterations of
street names and house numbers. Especially in
the case of outdated navigational data, errors
or mismatches may occur, e.g. in the case of
new streets, construction work, blockages at
entrances, alterations of street names and
house numbers.
The following is a list of the most common reasons
for the delay in driving to the destination.
