If you order the HYAMP III with External RS-232 Converter option you will receive the

All instructions use the rear panel view as a reference point. The rear panel is shown
above in the second illustration. The RS-232 external module is mounted to the left
side of the HYAMP III. The following instructions detail the mounting of the panel.
Mount the RS-232 external module to the back left side of the HYAMP case using the
three M3 X 8mm FHMS Phillips screws. The three screws currently in place there will
need to be removed in order to mount the module. The SIGNAL INPUT port on the
RS-232 external module should be facing the front of the HYAMP III and the SIGNAL
OUT port should be facing the rear of the HYAMP III.
Connect the 16 inch 9 pin male to 9 pin female cable from the SIGNAL INPUT port on
the RS-232 external module to the OPTION port on the rear of the HYAMP III. This
connection will allow the HYAMP III to pass information to the RS-232 external
module. Finally, connect the 2 meter RS-232 cable from the SIGNAL OUT port on the
RS-232 external module to the appropriate PC. The unit is now set for remote bus
communication.

module to the PC should be configured as follows for a 9-pin serial port interface:
