INSPECTION
INSPECTION
NOTE:
lf excessive wear; cracks, defects or other damage is found
on any component, replace component.
NOTE:
Thoroughly wash al/ metal components with cleaning solvent
and dry with compressed air.
AWARNING
Wear safety glasses when using compressed air.
Propeller
• lnspect propeller far bent, chipped or broken blades.
Replace or repair if necessary.
• lnspect propeller bushing splines for wear or other dam­
age. Replace if necessary.
• lnspect propeller bushing for deterioration or slipping.
Replace if necessary.
Gearcase Housing
• lnspect gearcase for cracks or other damage. Replace if
necessary.
• lnspect pinion bearing for pitting, rough or other damage.
Replace if necessary.
NOTE:
lf removal and replacement are required, see "Removal of
PINION BEARING" page 9-8.
Gears
• lnspect forward, reverse and pinion gear teeth and engag­
ing dogs. Replace gears if damaged or worn.
• lnspect forward gear thrust bearing. Replace bearing if pit­
ted, noisy or rough.
