5.4 Replacement of the electrode holders and water hoses
Action
Loosen the screws and nuts (x3) press-
ing the electrode holder in place.
Remove the electrode holder by pulling
it out gently.
Clean the contact surface (marked with
red in the illustration) with a clean cloth
to remove remains of old contact paste.
Clean the contact surface with scotch
brite (very fine grade) to remove any ex-
isting oxidation. If the stainless steel
hose was removed use a scotch brite
wheel otherwise use a hand pad.
Lubricate the contact surface with new
contact paste.
Spread the paste evenly over the entire
contact surface using a brush.
Remove the complete electrode (position
1) and copper gasket (position 2) from
the electrode holder (position 3).
Remove the cooling pipe from the elec-
trode holder (position 4).
Before replacing the electrode holder,
remove the insert couplings from the old
electrode holder (position 5).
