SYSTEM INITIALIZATION

4.1.

POWER ON AND DEFAULT CONDITION

Switch on the unit with the mains ON/OFF switch and check the
following default condition:
- The buzzer sounds for a few seconds.
- The following default values appear on the display:
STND PANORAMIC
74kV 10mA 12s
(7 mA for the Orthoralix 9200 DPI and 6 mA for the Orthoralix
9200 DDE).
4.2.

RESET AND DUMMY RUN

Press the RESET and DUMMY RUN pushbuttons to check that the
relevant movements are smooth and without noise.
4.3.

CONDITIONING THE X-RAY TUBE

After prolonged storage (six months), it may be necessary to
condition the X-ray tube; proceed as follows:
(1a)
For PAN versions: select the FREE EXPOSURE procedure
of the Service Programs Utilities (see Section F for more
details).
(1b)
For CEPH versions: the exposure times can be freely
selected on the control panel, without the need for any
special plug.

Select the exposure factors.

Perform repeated exposures, with a minimum interval of
10 sec between each exposure, following the sequence
indicated in the table below:

ADJUSTMENTS AND CHECKS

The system is completely adjusted and tested in the factory.
Consequently, the following checks will generally not require any
further adjustment.
If adjustments are necessary however, please refer to Section F
for more details.
5.1.

ALIGNMENT OF X-RAY FIELD PAN MODE

5.1.1. Orthoralix 9200 / Plus / Ceph / DPI
To check the alignment of the X-ray field in panoramic mode proceed
as follows:
(1)
Take two dental films and draw a line on their centre with
a sharp pencil.
(2)
Mark the films with A and B and place them over the
secondary slit, so that the centre lines of the films coincide
with the centre of the slit, the upper edge of A coincides with
the upper edge of the slit, the lower edge of B coincides with
the lower edge of the slit.

Select the FREE EXPOSURE procedure of the Service
Programs Utilities (see Section F for more details), select
60 kV, 10 mA, 0.80 s and make an exposure.
(4)
Develop the films and check that the X-ray field lies
symmetrically on the centre of the films, without touching
the edges corresponding to the slit.

Exit the Service Programs by switching off the system.
NOTE: The vertical dimension of the X-ray field measured on a
panoramic film is 131mm ± 3mm.
