INTRODUCTION

This section gives details about the preventive maintenance of the
Orthoralix systems.
The following pages list all the preventive maintenance actions and
at the end of the Section there is a checklist summarizing the
scheduled time/actions to be performed.
Legenda:
R-S
An R before the preventive maintenance
instruction indicates the need to have an X-ray
exposure: all the adequate precautions must
be taken.
An S before the preventive maintenance
instruction indicates that the instruction
concerns a safety aspect of the machine,
installation, etc.
INSTR. TYPE
The number written before the preventive
maintenance instruction represents the preven-
tive maintenance frequency in months (if not
specified in another manner).

MAINTENANCE
3.1. Remove the following covers:

Clean the steel cables using a soft cloth.
Check that the two steel cables are not worn and have no
broken strands. Pay particular attention to the fixation points.
Lubricate the two steel cables using Tellus 46 oil and then
grease with Molikote Longterm W2.
After lubrication, check that the Z-carriage moves smoothly
up and down, along the whole column.
S96 Replace the two steel cables and balance mechanism
following the procedure below:
(1)
remove the front and side covers of the column
(2)
lock the counterweight carriage using the two fixation
screws
(3)
disconnect the steel cables from the column (two Allen
screws)
(4)
remove the two plates from the top cover (with the
pulleys) of the column
(5)
remove the top cover with the pulleys and the motor
from the column; disconnect the connector X74 for the
motor power supply
(6)
screw the M6 screw (supplied with the new steel
cable) into the coupling pin of the balance mechanism
(7)
extract the coupling pin
(8)
remove the old steel cables with the balance mechanism
and mount the new one.

3.3. Clean the whole system.

3.4. Clean the roller guide along the column.

3.5. Lubricate the bushes and rotation gears of the
step-motors using spray grease.

3.6. Grease the following parts (with Molub Alloy MID 2):
