COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
5.11.1. Orthoralix
9200
There are two possible ways to connect the the Orthoralix 9200
DDE / Ceph to the Personal Computer (PC):
(A)
directly
(B)
to
a
PC
through
Case
(A):
direct
To connect the Orthoralix 9200 DDE / Ceph to the PC, an
interconnecting cable (crossover cable having the transmitter
crossed with the receiver) of 10 m is supplied (max length 25 m). To
make the connection proceed as follows:
(1)
Connect the interconnection cable to the Ethernet port of
the PC that will be used as workstation to receive images
from the Orthoralix.
(2)
On the bottom right side of the column there is a connection
box: connect the cable coming from the PC as shown in
the figure below.

After the connection to the PC, it is necessary to proceed with the
software installation as follows:
(1)
Install, on the PC that will be used as workstation to receive
Ceph
images from the Orthoralix, the
VixWin, and follow the video instructions.
(2)
After the VixWin installation, install the Activx driver for the
Orthoralix 9200 DDE by using the CD rom supplied.

At the end of the Activx driver installation, an icon showing
switch.
the Orthoralix will appear in the system tray: click on it.
(4)
Select the Config menu and insert the IP address choosen
PC
for the Orthoralix: when the correct IP address is written
(for example 123.123.123.1), click on Insert to store it;
finally click on OK.
(5)
Switch on the Orthoralix by entering the Service Programs
and select the IP address Service Program (see Section F
for more details). In this Service Program store the same IP
address used in the previous step (for example
123.123.123.1). Before storing the IP address it necessary
to wait for the booting of the PA7 board (typically about 30
s from the system power on), otherwise the IP address will
not stored in the Orthoralix.

Then, select the Subnet mask Service Program (see
Section F for more details). In this Service Program store
the choosen subnet mask address (for example
255.255.255.0).

Finally, it is necessary to store the IP address and the subnet
mask address in the PC; so:

At this point, look for the TCP/IP communication protocol
related to the network adapter used (for example: TCP/IP>>
3Com EtherLink XL TPO 10Mb Ethernet NIC): select it and
click on Properties.

Select the menu IP address and click on Specify IP address:
now it is possible to insert the IP address of the PC, that
must be different from the one used for the Orthoralix (for
example 123.123.123.2) and to insert the subnet mask
address, that must be the same used for the Orthoralix (so,
for our example 255.255.255.0). Once the addresses are
written, click on OK to store them.
