Chapter 1-System Overview
1-4

High Definition (HD)

HD is an ultra-high quality video resolution enabling compliant
endpoints to connect to conferences at resolutions
of 1280x720 (720p) and at bit rates ranging from 1024 Kbps to 2 Mbps.
HD is supported in two modes:
Continuous Presence – By default every conference, Entry Queue
and Meeting Room has the ability to declare the maximum CP
resolution. This includes conferences launched by the RMX Web
Client and conferences started via the API
High Definition Video Switching – Offers better video quality than
HD CP and uses less system resources. Video Layout is 1x1 only and
the conference requires:
— a dedicated profile
— a dedicated Entry Queue
— all participants to have HD compliant endpoints
— all participants to connect using the same conference line rate
Endpoints that are unable to meet these requirements connect as
Secondary (audio only).

Standard Definition (SD)

SD is a high quality video protocol which uses the H.264 video algorithm.
It enables HD compliant endpoints to connect to conferences at
resolutions of 720X576 for PAL systems and 720X480 for NTSC systems.
Bit rates for SD range from 256 Kbps to 2 Mbps.

4CIF

4CIF resolution in H.263 endpoints is supported for conferences in which
the video quality is set to sharpness and for lines rates of 384 Kbps to
1920 Kbps.

Multiple Switching Modes

If the number of participants is higher than the number of video windows
in the selected layout, switching between video participants can be
performed in one of these modes:
Voice activation
