Windshield washer container

The windshield washer container is located
on the right side of the engine compart-
ment. It can be identified by the blue cap -
see illustration.
The fluid cont ainer for the windshield wash-
ers system holds about 3.2 quarts (3.0 li-
ters).
The was her f luid container in the engine
compartment also supplies washer f luid for
the rear window washer system.

Before you check anything

in the engine compartment,
always read and heed all WARN-
INGS on page 40.
Filling the container
To add washer fluid, just lift the fil ler cap by
the small tongue. Th e container can be
filled to the top.
Since clear w ater is usually not adequate for
cleaning the glass, add a cleaning solution
to the water.

during t he cold season even though the ve-
hicle may be equipped with
heated"
washer jets. It helps to keep your wi nd-
shield clean and prevents the fluid from
freezing in the winter.
Do not use engine coolant anti-
freeze or any other solution that can
damage the vehicle paint.
Follow the directions on the can for the cor-
rect amount to be used.
After filling the container, press the cap onto
the filler neck.
Adjusting washer jets
You need special equipment to adjust the
jets for the w indshield and the headlight
washer system*. See your authorized
VOLKSWAGEN dealer.
