The vehicle battery is located at the front of
the engine compartment on the left side
(protected by a cover).

Under normal operating conditions, the
battery in your VOLKSWAGEN does not
need any maintenance. At high outside
temperatures it is advisable, however, to
check the fluid level at regular intervals.
First. open the battery cover .
• Press the retaining straps in the direct ion
of the arrows and lift up (see illustration).
TIPS AND ADVICE
Press the retaining straps in the direction of
the arrows 1 and fold back the safety cover
-arrow 2 .
~WARNING
• Always shield your eyes and
avoid leaning over the battery
whenever possible.
• Do not let battery acid come in
contact with skin, eyes, fabric, or
painted surfaces.
• If you get battery acid in your
eyes or on your skin, immediately
rinse with cold water for several
minutes and call a doctor.
• Do not expose the battery to an
open flame or electric spark.
Hydrogen gas generated by the
battery can explode and cause per-
sonal injury.
