Weatherstrips
Keep silicone sprays off the wind-
shield
to avoid
wiper smear in rain.
To
seal properly,
weatherstrips around
hood,
rear
lid,
doors, etc.,
must be
pliable.
Spray
with
silicone
or coat with
talcum
pow-
der or glycerine to retain flexibility
of
the
rubber
and to protect against freezing in the
winter.
Dull finishes and plastics
Plastic
parts,
such as light
bulb
lenses,
dec-
orative
stripes, panels, bumpers,
etc.,
wi
ll
come
clean
with regular washing.
Should
additional cleaning
or
spot
removal
be nec-
essary,
use
a soft
brush or
cloth
soaked with
a mild detergent solution
.
Then rinse
thor-
oughly and immediately
with
clear water.
Do not use
anything which
could
mar the
plastic
or
dull
finished sur-
faces,
such
as wax,
polish, abrasive
detergents or chemical cleaning sol-
vents.
Windows
Clean all windows regularly
to remove
road
film and car-wash wax
buildup.
Use a luke-
warm soap and water solution or an alco-
hol-based commercial window cleaning
agent.
If
a
chamois
is used for polishing the
glass, it
should
be used exclusively for that
purpose.
Also, be sure to clean
all
windows
regularly
on the
inside.
TIPS
AND
ADVICE
The
best way to remove
snow
from win-
dows and
mirrors
is to
use a brush.
Use
a nonabrasive plastic ice scraper- bet-
ter
still,
a spray
deicer-
to
remove
ice
from
windows and
mirrors.
To
help prevent dirt
from
scratch ing
the
w
in-
dow,
always scrape in a forward
direction-
pushing the scraper away f
rom
you
-
never
back and
forth.
Never use warm or hot water to re-
move snow and ice from windows
and
mirrors. This could cause the
glass to crack!
W indows should also be cleaned on
t
he
in-
side at regular
intervals.
Never
dry windows
with t
he
same chamois
that you use to dry
painted
surfaces. Wax
residue on
the chamois
can impair vision
th
rough windows.
Note
To prevent
damage the
wires of the rear
defogger, do
not place
any
adhesive
stickers in
the
inside
of
the rear window
over
the
wires.

on page 25.
