13.8 DUPLEX FEED DRIVE RELEASE MECHANISM

If a paper jam occurs when feeding paper from the duplex tray, the duplex
feed motor [A] rotates counterclockwise to lower the duplex bottom plate.
At this time the duplex tray is locked as the duplex tray lock solenoid is
energized. This is to prevent the jammed paper from being torn to pieces by
pulling out the duplex tray before clearing the jammed paper.
In order to make clearing the jammed paper easier, there is a drive release
lever [B]. When this lever is rotated, the duplex drive gear [C] is pressed
toward the front and the gear engagement with the idle gear [D] is released.
Then the duplex feed roller shaft [E] can be turned freely.
