While stacking the copy paper in the duplex tray, the paper flatteners [A]
correct curl on the leading edge of the copies.
After the last copy of the first side copying run enters the duplex tray, the
jogger fences square the paper stack and then the duplex feed motor starts
reverse rotation (counterclockwise). Then the duplex bottom plate rises.
Since the duplex feed rollers [B] and the duplex stack rollers [C] are driven by
the pins on the duplex feed roller shaft [D], the rollers rotate counterclockwise
about one revolution after the duplex feed roller shaft starts turning. The
rollers move the flip mylars [E] back to the right (front view) to prepare paper
feeding from the duplex tray.
The duplex paper feed system consists of two sets of the duplex feed roller
and the friction roller [F]. The two sets of rollers ensure paper feeding from
the duplex tray. As the friction roller has a one-way bearing inside, it rotates
freely during paper stacking and it locks during paper feeding. The duplex
feed rollers feed only the top sheet of the stack copies to the relay rollers
because the friction rollers function the same way as the friction pad does.
After that, the second side copies follow the upper paper tray feed station
paper path.
