To Change the Septum on the Split/Splitless Inlet
Materials needed
• Gloves, clean, lint-free
• Replacement septum
• Wrench, hex for changing septum
• 0- or 00-grade steel wool (optional)
• Tweezers
• Wrench, capillary inlet (optional)
Procedure
1 Set the inlet pressure to 0 and wait for the GC to become ready.
Be careful! The oven and/or inlet may be hot enough to cause burns. If the inlet is

hot, wear heat-resistant gloves to protect your hands.
2 Remove the septum retainer nut or Merlin cap.
3 Use tweezers to remove the septum or Merlin Microseal from the retainer
